Wi-Spy™ Videos
Videos that directly discuss various aspects of the Wi-Spy hardware.
This video explains the differences between MetaGeek's Wi-Spy v1, Wi-Spy 2.4x and Wi-Spy DBx. This is slightly outdated now that the Wi-Spy 2.4i has superseded the Wi-Spy v1. The Wi-Spy 2.4i does have better specs than the original unit, so the difference shown in the video will not be as large as if you were to use the 2.4i.
This video introduces the Wi-Spy 2.4i. This unit supersedes the Wi-Spy v1 (or original).
This video introduces the Wi-Spy DBx. This unit also can analyse the 5 GHz spectrum - so it can diagnose the full 802.11a/b/g/n range.
Chanalyzer™ Videos
Some videos showing some basics on the Chanalyzer software and how you can use it to interpret noise signals.
Trouble-shooting Wi-Fi with Chanalyser v3.2
Talks about some of the newer features of the Chanalyser software and how to best use them when performing analysis.
Zoom into a channel for higher resolution troubleshooting. Right click on the X-Axis, or use the Hardware Configuration menu.
This tutorial shows how chanalyzer displays differen WLAN networks in the 2.4GHz range (802.11b and 802.11g). Learn how to navigate through a recording using the time lock button, and spectral view to discover an interfering microwave.
The Notes tool allows the user to add notes using a time stamp. If you double click on the note, it will jump to the point that the note was recorded. Notes with a time stamp within the selected area will appear highlighted.
Featuring the new SSID overlays for troubleshooting Wi-Fi interference.
Chanalyzer turns data collected from the Wi-Spy 2.4x into highly interactive charts and graphs, allowing users to actually "visualize" their wireless landscape. Together, Wi-Spy 2.4x and Chanalyzer 3 enable both business and home users to visualize, troubleshoot, and optimize their Wi-Fi (wireless fidelity) networks.
With Chanalyzer 3 you don't need to waste your time watching real-time RF activity to troubleshoot. Chanalyzer records the data for quick viewing and analysis. You can then use Chanalyzer recordings to visually explain to your customers how you will optimize their wireless network. Troubleshoot your wireless networks without leaving your desk. Just install our new Recon application, which is a simple Wi-Spy 2.4x data server and then connect to it remotely from anywhere with Chanalyzer 3.
Educational Videos
Videos that help you learn more about the various products that use the 2.4GHz and 5.0GHz spectrum.
When the network is only lightly used, most of the packets are beacons, which still are going to have the RF signature of 11b. When a large amount of data is moving accross the network, you should see the squared-off signature of a 802.11g.
This shows how a bluetooth works, using Wi-Spy and Chanalyzer from MetaGeek
Interference from a cordless phone.
Microwave interferes on channels 11 and possibly 6 from the location of the spectrum analyzer.
